Book Covers I’m Loving

I’ve shared before about my tendency to judge a book by its cover. Despite the adage to avoid such practices, I can’t help it. I’d like to say my profession that involves graphic design is at the root of this, but fact of the matter is I’ve been doing it since childhood. I have imprinted in my mind the beautiful Anne of Avonlea series covers, well-known Charlotte’s Web cover, and others. When you stop and think about it, the design of a cover is intended to do just that? Attract you to a book? Make you want to pick it up? But art, which covers are, is subjective. So, how can we be expected to turn a blind eye to covers carefully designed to tell us about the story inside?

In any case, I thought I’d share some recent book covers that have caught my eye:

If For Any Reason by Courtney Walsh | To Catch a Suitor by Sarah Adams | The Heart’s Stronghold by Amanda Barratt, Angie Dicken, Gabrielle Meyer, Kimberly Woodhouse | The Happy Camper by Melody Carlson | Before I Called You Mine by Nicole Deese | Beach Haven by T. I. Lowe

Just as I was about to publish this post, I saw a cover reveal announcement from Rachel McMillan and just HAVE to include it…it’s so…YUMMY! Christmas and Hallmark Movies? I’m in! It’s not yet available for pre-order but is set to release in October.

Do you have any favorite covers? What do you look for in a cover that really catches your eye and makes you want to pick it up off the shelf?

It’s hard not to judge a book by its cover. Here are several I’m loving right now! #bookcovers
