ABOUT THE BOOK

Artist Livy Johnson needs a fresh start. That’s what a broken heart and forgotten dreams can do to a person. On little more than a whim, she reclaims her grandmother’s old mountain cottage in quaint Laurel Cove, North Carolina and vows to restore its original charm. When she literally collides with childhood friend, Jack Bowdon, Livy wonders if she’s back for an entirely different reason. Jack can’t believe his childhood crush is back. As the owner of Bowdon’s Supplies, and once again the town’s most eligible bachelor, he offers to help Livy with repairs. Together they embark on the project—and an undeniable whirlwind romance. But it’s not all smooth sailing. Can they survive the destructive pain of their pasts to discover God’s grace waiting to renovate their hearts?

PRAISE FOR SOMEPLACE FAMILIAR

“The setting is gorgeous and vivid, quaint and quirky. The characters are fun and relatable, the kind of people you’d want as friends. The romance is smokin’ hot (honestly, keep a freezer handy) but laced with mutual respect for each other and for God’s guardrails. And banter. It’s laced with lots of great flirtalicious banter too! Most importantly, the message is sincere and organically woven through the pages. Someplace Familiar by Teresa Tysinger made me smile for all the right reasons.”

– Carrie from Reading Is My Superpower

“Teresa Tysinger’s debut novel is a smashing hit from page one. This story is about two heartbroken and abused people come together to pick up the broken pieces of their lives as they work together to fix-up a run down cottage. Readers will fall in love with the characters, immediately being drawn to their pains and sufferings, as well as their joys and happiness. It is a story that will rip into a reader’s heart as they come to love Laurel Cove and the people in it. This is a well-written, heart wrenching and gut pulling story that readers will absolutely love, leaving them lingering on thoughts of hardships and love. I would recommend this novel to readers that enjoy contemporary fiction.”

– Singing Librarian Books

“With a true Southern gentility, this debut is a breath of fresh air, yet reminiscent of the classic Nicholas Sparks. A heartfelt romantic journey from beginning to end, this novel will wrap you up in Southern hospitality, offer you a cup of sweet tea and make the reader not want to leave the colorful world of Laurel Cove, or say goodbye to Jack and Livy.”

– Meghan Gorecki, Author

“It isn’t often a debut author can pull off a novel of such depth and beauty (and some fun flirtations!), but Teresa Tysinger has done it. From her descriptions that pull the reader right on in (I could *smell* the fresh mountain air!) to the romantic tension between Jack and Livy to the plot itself, Teresa Tysinger has truly shone.”

– Mikal Dawn, Author

“The story of Livy and Jack is beautiful, wonderful, and had an element of surprise/suspense that I was not at all expecting. I was drawn to the storyline, and found myself cheering them on right from the start. This story was also about new beginnings and forgiveness.”
