Oh me, oh my! There’s some tasty treats out there in Book Land. Yummy morsels just begging to be nibbled and savored.
Here are two of my favorite fiction book candy flavors. Grab your cellophane bag and twist tie and get ready to stuff your mind full of some sweet stories!
A Singular and Whimsical Problem
by Rachel McMillan
I finished this fun story in less than a day! This is the first I’ve read from Rachel and it most certainly will not be the last.
Here’s a snippet from my recent Amazon review: McMillan had me at page one with her wildly entertaining style, mixing quirky first-person narrative with a simple yet engaging and fast-paced plot. Her staccato style kept me on the edge of my seat … If you enjoy the mystery and wit of Sherlock Holmes, spit-fire characters with the confidence of Anne “with an E” of Green Gables, and the charm of a by-gone era, this one’s for you. I can’t wait to read more of McMillan’s Herringford and Watts Mysteries.
The California Gold Rush Romance Collection
This collection from Barbour Publishing includes nine stories of finding treasures worth more than gold. Here’s a peak at what you’ll find: “Rush to California after the 1848 gold discovery alongside thousands of hopeful men and women. Meet news reporters, English gentry, miners, morticians, marriage brokers, bankers, fugitives, preachers, imposters, trail guides, map makers, cooks, missionaries, town builders, soiled doves, and more people who take advantage of the opportunities to make their fortunes in places where the population swelled overnight. But can faith and romance transform lives where gold is king?”
One of the novellas, “Gold Haven Heiress,” is written by my dear friend and brilliant author Jaime Jo Wright. I couldn’t be more happy for her! The collection releases August 2016 and is now available for pre-order here!
