#MyOlympicSportWouldBe making procrastination look easy.
It’s so true! My favorite way to procrastinate is reading. Not exactly a reprimand-worthy activity, I know. However, when I should be adding words to my own books, it feels like a solid avoidance technique. Oh, but what a fun way to procrastinate! I also claim that reading, especially within my own genre of contemporary romance, can be “research” and “practice” by seeing how successful authors craft their stories. Right? 🙂
Last night I finished A Twist of Faith by Pepper Basham. Here’s my reivew, just posted on Amazon. Don’t miss the change to buy your own copy using the links following the review…
My Amazon Review of A Twist of Faith
A Twist of Faith so wonderfully invites you into the world of Appalachia, with it’s charm, deep family roots, and natural beauty. Basham also introduces readers to full, masterfully developed characters who become part of your own family. The love story between farmer Reece Mitchell and speech linguist and academic Dr. Adelina (Dee) Roseland is tender, albeit at times heart-wrenching simply because it’s so real.
In an Appalachian adaptation of Pygmalion, Dr. Roseland makes a bet with a colleague that she can transform the assumed backwoods Mr. Mitchell into a smooth talking gentleman, sans thick drawl and accent. Her reward, a recommendation for her dream job at another university. What Dee doesn’t count on is falling in love with her student. However, both student and teacher must face hard lessons of forgiveness and grace before the wager is won.
I personally most enjoy novels about characters who are flawed (just like me), need redemption (just like me), and are searching for hope (just like me). A Twist of Faith offers just that. What’s more, the redemption and hope is found in the one and only place it lives–Jesus. This happy ending weaves together faith in the saving grace of Jesus along with the tender, romantic love readers will devour.

Teresa, A Twist of Faith sounds like a good read. My youngest daughter just finished a two year stint rehabbing homes with Appalachian Service Project. Her favorite location was West Virginia. She absolutely fell in love with the people and surrounding area. I bet she’d like this book too.
