Hi, friends. How has September treated you? I’m just starting to come out of whatever funk I’ve been in. As I shared before, I’ve just been sitting in God’s presence waiting and trying to listen. I’ve anticipated the small, still voice — though I would have rather heard a loud, clear command so to avoid any confusion about his plan for me. I’m feeling the urge to write creep back in. I’m thinking about a new, maybe more sustainable writing schedule. I’d really appreciate prayers for this.
On to some fun, light-hearted stuff…you know, things friends gab about.
5 Highly Anticipated Things
No. 1: Fall – The start of fall might just be my favorite time of year. It goes back to falls spent at Mars Hill College in the mountains of North Carolina. Awe-inspiring for this girl who grew up in central Florida.Today’s the first “fall-ish” day in Texas. It’ll be another month at least before we get pretty trees around here. But, it’s slightly cooler, I’m wearing boots, and my pumpkin decorations are out in my office. Bring on the apple cider and pumpkin pie! (And praying we don’t see the 90s again for many months!!)
No. 2: This Is Us Premier – Did you see the very first episode of this new NBC family drama? As someone who fell in love (hard core) with the Bravermans on NBC’s Parenthood, I’ve been chomping at the bit to see this premier. It was everything I hoped it would be. Sensitive. Realistic. Centered on relationships. Had a few twists that left me wanting more. What did you think??
No. 3: Family Birthday – My daughter turns 8 in one week. WHAT?! As our only child, we kind of go all out for birthdays. We’re anticipating her first ever sleepover with four of her friends this weekend. Pizza, root beer floats, dress-up, dancing, late-night (hopefully not too late), and homemade funfetti pancakes! My husband is staying in Dallas for work overnight, so this mama is on her own. Prayers appreciated.
No. 4: Sister Visit – My twin sister lives in Alabama. Way too far from Texas. But she’s coming for a rare visit in two weeks so we can attend the Silobration at Chip & Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia! There will be country chic everything, cupcakes, Johnny Swim concert, and — of course — shiplap.
No. 5: Speaking Engagement – EEK! I’m both excited and a little nervous to be the guest speaker at a women’s event in October. I’m speaking on what I’ve learned about Jesus through the lens of storytelling. As a writer, this is a huge blessing to share why I write Christian fiction and what I hope others see of Jesus in my stories. I’d appreciate prayers for his message to come across during this time.
What are you anticipating? What do you love about this time of year?
OMGosh I follow your sister on Instagram. Now I know why she looks so familiar. This coincidence is just too funny. And we also live in the same hot-as-hades neck of the woods.

Teresa, You shared her link awhile back as part of a give-a-way. While viewing her art work I noticed she was from Alabama. I also live in the Bham area (not Texas) Sorry about the mixup above, although I did recently visit San Antonio and Waco this summer. Magnolia Silo is awesome!!!! You will love it.
