Mid-Year Very Merry Book Giveaway: The Perfect Christmas

Let’s talk perfection. Sure, we know it’s not attainable. But it’s also subjective and different for every person when talking about something like an experience. For instance, what would make “the perfect Christmas” for you? Answer below and you could win today’s eBook giveaway in the Mid-Year Very Merry Book Giveaway!

A quick side note… a reminder to our new winner of Royally Yours, Marcie McEachern…be sure to email me TODAY to claim your prize!

For me, “the perfect Christmas” would include plenty of time off from work, being with family, low-stress entertaining (I enjoy cooking all the traditional treats but no one likes to be stressed out about it!), cold weather, holiday movies I’ve watched since I was a kid, and candlelight worship on Christmas Eve. Some years have been better than others because life certainly can get in the way, but I’ve been blessed with some pretty great Christmases.

Today’s giveaway Christmas book is The Perfect Christmas by Bell Renshaw. Like other books by Bell, this is a sweet story full of real life ups and downs. For me, it’s relatable and hopeful. A pretty PERFECT combo for a Christmas story. Keep reading for your chance to win a free eBook copy!

Available on Amazon

Will the perfect Christmas be enough to convince Beau that a life with Ansley could be equally perfect?

Born and raised in Winter, Montana, Beau Bradley can’t imagine life anywhere else. During the holiday season his coffee shop, Mountain Grounds, is as busy as ever and now that his girlfriend is back in town, things finally seem to be lining up—until he gets a call that could change it all.

Ansley Strauss is back in Winter after a nine-month, art intensive in Canada and she’s ready to celebrate the Christmas season in the tried and true Winter-style. There’s only one problem: her boyfriend lacks Christmas spirit. Her solution? Make this Christmas perfect to remind Beau just how special this time of year is.

Set on a course for ultimate Christmas joy, Ansley and Beau find that life doesn’t always work out the way they hope it will. Beau faces the reality that plans can’t account for everything and sometimes risking it all is the only way. Ansley will have to come to the realization that no matter how perfect things are, it’s the imperfections in life that make it worth living.

It’s another Christmas in Winter, Montana where the coffee is always hot and the mistletoe beckons lovers to share a kiss.

Calling All Couples!

On December 10 at 5:00 pm,
we need your help setting a
Guinness World Record
for the most couples
kissing under the mistletoe!

Chase Spencer had been firmly planted in the friend-zone ever since he first met Rachel Anthony back when they were in grade school and it looks like that’s where he’s destined to remain. And her latest scheme is bound to be torture. She wants them to help break the Guinness World Record for the most couples kissing under the mistletoe at one time. How should he handle this? Should the kiss be a chaste, friendly kiss like she envisions? Or should he do it in a way that leaves Rachel without a doubt that he wants to be more than friends?

It had always been Rachel’s dream to break a world record, and who better to do it with than her best friend Chase? And it wasn’t as if they hadn’t kissed before—sixth grade, spin-the-bottle at Iona Puckett’s party—a peck of the lips and it’d be over. Except she missed the part where they had to hold the kiss for ten seconds. And no one warned her of how she would feel afterwards—confused and longing for more. How can she convince Chase to change her status from friend to girlfriend?

Mid-Year Very Merry Book Giveaway: Like a Winter Snow

Next up in the Mid-Year Very Merry Book Giveaway was a big hit last year! I thoroughly enjoyed this story set within a Christmas-time wedding in England. Be still my romantic heart. I also love that there is a lot of snow. I grew up in Florida and now reside in Texas. The idyllic white Christmases depicted in movies and greeting cards were not my reality! But, oh, it’s sure on my bucket list. What I wouldn’t give to wake up just one Christmas morning to a snowy scene outside frosty windows and snuggle up in front of a crackling fireplace. Swoon!

For now, I’ll settle for the gorgeous scenery of Like a Winter Snow, the Christmas story from author Lindsay Harrel.

Available on Amazon

Cozy up with this charming and uplifting romance all about unexpected love, true friendship, and family loyalty. Set during a Christmas-time wedding among the falling snow, this sweet story will warm your heart.

Women’s counselor Joy Beckman has always been a friend and helper to all. That’s why she’s given up everything to be with her parents as her mother suffers through Alzheimer’s. Joy may not have a thriving career or a love life at the moment, but she’s doing what she does best—taking care of others. And even though it’s difficult, she knows it’s where she is supposed to be.

But life throws a curveball when she has to leave her parents temporarily to travel to Cornwall, England, for the December wedding of her best friend. While there, Joy helps Sophia tackle her last-minute to-do list, and in the process, finally meets a man who turns her head—and her heart. The only problem? He lives in snowy London, and her life is with her parents back in sunny Florida.

She tries to resist Oliver Lincoln’s charms, but it’s harder than it should be. With her heart torn in two, Joy is forced to choose between a life she knows she’s meant for and the one she didn’t see coming.

Summer Reading: Cover Love

If you’ve been following me for longer than a minute, chances are you know that I unapologetically judge books by their covers. Whether it’s the graphic designer in me or just some innate God-given sense of style (insert sarcastic snort here), I just can’t help myself.

Now that summer is upon us, here are several covers have me drooling over my iced tea.

The Summer House | Stories That Bind Us | If For Any Reason
The Lost Future of Pepperharrow | The Water Keeper | The Joy of Falling
Driftwood Dreams | Carolina Breeze | These Nameless Things

Which of these catches your eye the most and makes you want to start reading right now? What other book covers have caught your attention recently? What books are on your summer reading list?

Happy Summer Reading!

Now Accepting Applications for Beta Readers!

Well, friends, I have reached a super fun and also slightly nerve-wracking (ahhhh!!) phase of writing Suddenly Forever, the second book in the Laurel Cove Series that is coming out sometime this fall! I’m ready to put together a small team of beta readers to help me make the book the absolute best it can be! And YOU can now “apply” to join the team!

I’m not quite ready to give a synopsis of the book just yet. But Suddenly Forever takes readers back to Laurel Cove, North Carolina, the charming fictional mountain town where Someplace Familiar was set. The themes of the story are grief, healing, the challenges of moving on, and letting God restore life through love. Some familiar characters return from the first book, but the main characters are both new to the scene! Are you excited yet?

Before I share the application with you, let’s chat for a minute about what exactly a beta reader does and does not do.

Some authors use beta readers in different ways. For me, here’s what I ask of my beta readers:

  • Beta readers do carefully read a completed (but not yet ready for publication) manuscript of the book within about 2-4 weeks of receiving it.
  • Beta readers do watch for and note places in the book where details don’t match up, inconsistencies, places something is unclear/questionable, etc.
  • Beta readers are familiar with Microsoft Word and are comfortable using it. You are welcome to use the Comments tool to note feedback on particular lines/passages.
  • Beta readers thoughtfully completes a provided questionnaire and return by a specified deadline.
  • Beta readers agree to let me use your remarks, if chosen, in promotions.
  • Beta readers promise to not discuss the book or share any part of the book until I begin promoting it.

  • Beta readers do not provide extensive editing. I am working with an editor and proofreader to help polish the book. But, if you catch an error or an inconsistency please feel free to note those!
  • Beta readers do not act as a formal endorser of the book. If you are an author or editor and are interested in providing a formal endorsement, please note that on your questionnaire.
  • Beta readers do not receive compensation for your help. I can’t be more grateful for the time and thoughtful energy beta readers put into this amazing task! While I do not pay beta readers, there may be some special fun treats for those who participate.
  • Beta readers do not talk about the book before I begin promoting it (same as last bullet point above; it’s important to note twice!!).

If this all sounds good to you, then I invite you to fill out the application by clicking the button below. It will be available until June 24. Applicants will receive an email letting them know if they’ve been chosen by July 1. To keep this process manageable;e for me, I’ll only be choosing 4-5 readers this time. If you are not chosen, don’t worry! You’ll be added to a list of possible beta readers for future projects.

Birthday Bash Open House: Someplace Familiar by Teresa Tysinger

It worked out great, as the hostess, that my own book would be the last in our month-long Birthday Bash Open House! Someplace Familiar‘s 3rd book birthday is actually tomorrow, May 30, but I want to get the post out there before the weekend and give folks through the end of tomorrow to enter our big GIVEAWAY (see below).

Someplace Familiar is my debut novel. Of course, as book mamas we never play favorites, but there’s something about your first book baby. I thought I’d share some fun little-known facts about this sweet story with you.

  • I wrote the first draft in 30 days during National Novel Writer’s Month in November of 2014!
  • It took more than 2 years of big rewrites and edits, including an entirely new opening chapter, to finish it.
  • The original title was Good Graces, until an early editor asked “Aren’t all types of grace good?”
  • Livy’s grandmother’s cottage is greatly inspired by my great-grandmother’s charming bungalow home in West Palm Beach, though obviously the book is set in the mountains of North Carolina.
  • Jack’s last name (Bowdon) was my great-grandparents’ last name.
  • Laurel Cove is a fictional town inspired by Burnsville, NC, which is the hometown of my best friend. It became my home away from home during college and I fell in love!

Anything on this list surprise you? It’s so fun to revisit the book and the memories of writing it. I’ve been doing that a lot lately as I write Suddenly Forever, book two in the Laurel Cove Romance series, which should (God willing!) release this fall! The characters and their journeys have both haunted and inspired me. I can’t be more excited to share more about it with you in the coming months.

For now, I’m so excited to celebrate Someplace Familiar turning three among all the other fun three-year-old titles we’ve already partied over this month! Thanks SO MUCH for celebrating with us!

Happy Birthday, Someplace Familiar!

Jack can’t believe his childhood crush is back. As the owner of Bowdon’s Supplies, and once again the town’s most eligible bachelor, he offers to help Livy with repairs. Together they embark on the project—and an undeniable whirlwind romance.

But it’s not all smooth sailing. Can they survive the destructive pain of their pasts to discover God’s grace waiting to renovate their hearts?

I’m a wife, mama, and full-time communications professional who loves Jesus, coffee, and traveling whenever possible! Allegra Spencer has been living a careful life. Her safe job as an accountant is bookended by going to church and the gym. Okay, sometimes the gym. Fine. She goes to church. And the coffee shop. She avoids risk at all cost, preferring to stay safe in her cozy condo. Until her accounting firm goes belly up and she’s out of a job.

Tyler Hawk had a glorious career as a star NFL tight end. He retired on a high note and now lives a second dream of owning his own business and leading others on extreme outdoor adventures. But he needs help with his books—and his heart. When Allegra takes the job, sparks fly.

It’s a case of safety zone versus danger zone, and in their minds, never the two shall meet.
