ACFW Recap

RECAP

As I mentioned earlier this week, I attended the American Christian Fiction Writer’s Conference on Saturday. Many of you who follow along here are also authors, or have been following along my journey. So, let’s do a recap, shall we? Even though I was only able to attend the one day, I’ve got lots to share, so if you need to go refill your coffee first, I’ll wait…. (Psst. be sure and read to the bottom!)

OK, now that we’re all set… Continue reading “ACFW Recap”

Ushering in a New Season

Ushering

Hello, friends! How are you today? Tomorrow is the official beginning of fall here in the States…and, let me tell you, this girl is excited! To get ready, I’ve spruced up the site to feel a little more cozy. Can you hear the crunch of leaves under foot? Do you smell the cider brewing on the stove? Feel the warmth of the fireplace? I’d wrap you all in a over-sized cable-knit blanket if I could figure a way to make websites tactile!

We’ll be sharing a lot more about all things autumnal in the coming weeks, as it’s my favorite. But today I wanted to share a few exciting updates, make an apology (yep), and share an announcement. Ready? Let’s chat…

Exciting Updates

I’ve been talking for a long time about attending my first American Christian Fiction Writer’s conference. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement! I only attended on Saturday, but that’s all the time God needed to bless my socks right off! I am extremely excited to report that all three of the literary agents with whom I met and pitched my first novel have requested a proposal/sample chapters! This is a huge step forward in signing with someone for representation. Nothing guaranteed, but man, what a fun step forward.

It was also amazing to get to meet fellow authors like Jaime Jo Wright, Carol Moncado, Shelli Littleton, and Becky Wade. And be in the same vicinity with big stars like Francine Rivers! Wow!

Lastly, you may have noticed that with the new fall theme, the website boasts a new catch phrase of sorts. “Contemporary romance for every season.” This is very intentional and came directly from some wonderful feedback I received from a potential agent. You’ll be hearing more about this update soon.

Now for an Apology…

I owe you sweet people an apology. I promised my first newsletter would be coming out about a month ago. One of the golden rules of blogging and marketing is not following through with promises. EEK! But, we’re all living real life together, right? Real life simply got in the way, folks. I could list off several reasons why it’s not happened, but they don’t really matter. Which leads me to my announcement.

A Fun Announcement!

Drum roll, please! The first issue of my newsletter will go out on October 1 and will celebrate all things fall. From now on, each newsletter will go out on the first of every month, or as close to it as I can manage.

If you’ve not yet signed up for my newsletter, now’s the perfect time, because I’ll be doing a “Fall Into Fall” Giveaway, exclusively for subscribers! You’ll have the chance to win a set of some of my favorite fall things. You can sign up here. (And tell your friends by watching Facebook for sneak-peek posts and SHARE!)

Fighting the Voices of Self-Doubt

Just a few days ago, my prayers included being thankful that God had given me a peace about the upcoming American Christian Fiction Writer’s Conference. It was particularly pleasant since it’s usually my way to let worry creep in and take over. Well…as if a storm front blew in while I was sleeping, this morning I awoke with the familiar rushing winds of anxiety and downpour of fear swirling around me.Continue reading “Fighting the Voices of Self-Doubt”
