Good Graces: Inspiration Board

InspirationBoard

During the process of writing Good Graces, I have kept a Pinterest board of images that inspired the setting, buildings, characters, and “ambiance” of the story. I am simply in love with this fictional place…reminiscent of my time spent attending college 35 minutes north of Asheville. I thought it would be fun to share some of these with you…and begin introducing you to the quaint little mountain town of Laurel Cove, North Carolina. Follow this board, and many others I have fun with, here.Continue reading “Good Graces: Inspiration Board”

Let’s Dance!

footlooseI’ve been workin’ so hard.
I’m punching my card.
Eight hours (day, weeks, months) for what?
Oh tell me what I’ve got.
I’ve got this feeling….
And now I’ve got to cut loose!

Oh, friends! In life we must find reasons and ways to celebrate all the time. Not just birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, milestones. The road through life is LONG. And I’m ready to celebrate.

Yesterday, I emailed off my manuscript to my editor three whole days ahead of the deadline! I’ve worked extremely hard to improve, take away, rewrite, fix, make more clear, etc. the story of Good Graces. There will undoubtedly be more work, lots of work, but right now? Right now we’re going to celebrate.

I don’t know about you. But when I get really excited, I want to dance! Wheels off, don’t care who’s watching (or how bad my rhythm is), shake what your mama gave you dancing. My favorite movie dance scene E.V.E.R. is the one below. (Trivia: I cry at the ending of Footloose every single time. True story.)

Who’s with me? Let’s cut loose and celebrate one step closer to becoming published!

Meeting Deadlines

I have 11 days to get my next draft of Good Grace off to my editor for her final read through. There’s a lot of critique notes to work through. So, I may be absentee for a while around here….but maybe you can help!

If you are a blogger, author, or just someone with encouraging things to say please feel free to contact me about guest posting here. Let me know the topic you’d want to write about or provide a link to an article you’d like to repost here. Here are some topics I’d be interested in getting in front of fellow readers:

  • Writing tips
  • Publishing information and tips
  • Book reviews for Christian fiction titles
  • Faith/Christianity (mostly related to encouraging others in their faith)
  • Summer reading, book/reading related crafts, etc.

Thanks!  It takes a village. Back to meeting deadlines…

Rollercoaster Week (a.k.a. Life)

Rollercoaster

It’s been a week of ups and downs. Monday I celebrated the last submission to my critique group. Good times. Then, with their help (for which I’m still genuinely grateful), I took a ride down to the pits realizing I am far under the recommended average length for books in my genre….by about 25,000 words. Not so good times. Then, this morning, my husband accidentally wiped out my flash drive…and panic ensued. Most of it is backed up and the rest is in my email sent box, thankfully.Continue reading “Rollercoaster Week (a.k.a. Life)”

Finishing the Critique Process with Joy!

Joy

This is the day that the Lord has made,
let us rejoice and be glad in it!   Psalm 118.24

Over the weekend I submitted the final chapter (epilogue) to my critique group! It is a big accomplishment for me, one several months in the making. Once the final critiques are in, I’ll work on getting the polished draft to my editor for a last read-through. Then it’s query time.Continue reading “Finishing the Critique Process with Joy!”
