On Being Brave

Do you ever see or hear something repeatedly, enough times that you start to wonder if God’s trying to tell you something? It’s been like that this week for me. In fact, it’s like He’s standing on the side of the road wearing one of those bright orange construction vests lined with reflector material whileContinue reading “On Being Brave”

What’s your favorite #readingspot? I love this little corner in my home. It’s quiet (usually) and cozy. Happy reading, friends! #readersofinstagram #reading #booklover #christianfictionromance #christianreaders
Wanted to share with you a photograph I've been staring at lately as I'm writing my novel set in summer in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Isn't it DREAMY?!
I’ll likely be quiet on here over the next week as I hunker down to finish writing my third novel! This push to the finish line is often the hardest for me. I’d appreciate prayers for a clear mind and endurance. Thanks, friends!!! #amwriting #laurelcoveseries #authorsofinstagram #christianfictionwriter #christianfictionromance #prayerrequest #writingcommunity #writingtheend #christfic #christianromanceauthors
Happy Sunday! Just a little #realtalk. I’ve been struggling with #impostersyndrome lately. You know, that feeling that one day folks are going to realize you don’t really know what you’re doing...that you’ve just been acting as an imposter at whatever you do. I think this can be particularly hard for creatives. It’s so easy to compare myself to other authors who seem to do it better, quicker, with more success, etc. What do I do when I feel this self-doubt taking hold? 1) I remind myself of my “whys.” Why do I do this? I write because it’s a creative outlet, writing brings me closer to God, and I feel my stories can bring truth or comfort to others. 2) Remind myself of my “why nots.” I do NOT do this for popularity/fame, fortune, or self worth. 3) I talk to my husband about how I’m feeling because he is a wonderful encourager and reminds me of 1 and 2. Finally, 4) I pray and invite God, once again, into the center of the process and that He will let it be what He intends for it to be, both for me and my readers. So...if you struggle from feelings of inadequacy or comparison, maybe these things will help you, too. The world needs ALL our individual voices!!! ❤️❤️❤️ #authorsofinstagram #christianfictionauthor #christfic #amwriting #creative #writingcommunity #writersofinstagram #encouragement #christianfictionromance
As a Texas resident, it's been a rough week, y'all. Following an unprecedented winter storm and rare sub-freezing temperatures, many, many other Texans are still struggling to keep warm and do not have clean water or any water at all. (We have been fine, thankfully.) Even as the temperature begins to slowly rise, the needs of residents are great and overwhelming. But COMMUNITY is GREATER. BLESSINGS can overwhelm need!
❄️ “Every winter has its spring.” - H. Tuttle. ❄️ We are just a day or two away from coming out of the deep freeze we’ve been experiencing here in Texas. We’ve been blessed to have maintained power, water, and heat the whole time. Many of our city and state neighbors have not been so lucky. Join me in praying for those folks, as well as the first responders, city workers, and leaders working hard to serve our residents and fix many infrastructure issues. #prayersfortexas #winterstorm2021 #texaswinter #prayer #winter
